Background and motivation
Maaz Maps is based on more than a decade of experience in detecting, attributing and quantifying methane emissions across the globe. This startup aims to participate actively and execute all the experience achieved in the past years in terms of measurements to reduce emissions from major sectors at global scale. The major anthropogenic methane emissions are from agriculture, energy and waste sectors. This can be accomplished through applying series of measurement-based methods to reduce industrial emissions at an unprecendent pace.
Why is our work important?
Atmospheric abundance of methane is on its accelerated trend which has short- and long-term consequences. We must act now to reduce emission and observe decline in atmospheric concentration (the scientific term for this is mixing ratio) of this very strong greenhouse gas. Methane is more than 80 times stronger than carbon dioxide in warming up our planet Earth in 20-year time horizon.
